Selected Ski Boots For Ski Enthusiasts
Ski boots are footwear used in skiing to provide a method of attaching a skier to a ski using ski bindings. The ski/boot/binding combination is used to effectively transfer control inputs from the skier’s legs to the snow. Ski boots were originally made of wood and leather. The first plastic ski boots were produced in the 1930s, and by the 1950s most ski boots were made of plastic.
Ski boots are designed to keep the skier’s foot firmly attached to the ski while skiing, and must provide enough support to allow the skier to control the direction of the ski. The boots must also provide some level of comfort, to allow the skier to spend extended periods of time skiing. Ski boots are generally divided into two categories, alpine ski boots, and Nordic ski boots. Alpine ski boots are designed for use with downhill ski bindings and have a rigid sole that is attached to the binding. Nordic ski boots are designed for use with Nordic ski bindings and have a flexible sole that is not attached to the binding.
Ski boots are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and flexibilities to suit different types of skiing, skier ability levels, and snow conditions.
